Neither of these work when it comes to TTX files. Other formats can be
cleaned, pre-translated and analysed without any problems.

The workbench returns the following error:
(-2147418113): Unexpected error when reading file!

I have no idea what happened, it used to work beautifully before.
Any idea how to repair it would be highly appreciated.

I use Trados 8.

TIA
Monika

Monika,

Did you create the TTX yourself or was it created on another system/another Trados version?
If you have the source file, you can easily recreate the TTX from scratch, and simply run a "translate to fuzzy".
Otherwise, do a full tag verification in TagEditor and check what went wrong.

If nothing works, this is a job for the official SDL support....

TOPIC STARTER
It simply does not work with any TTX files Mar 4, 2008

It concerns any TTX files, whether created by me or sent by customer.

It seems to be a general problem - but I am not aware of doing anything with my comp which would trigger it. It just suddenly stopped performing these functions with this file format....

It is quite annoying, esp. the analyse and clean-up function.

I was trying to contact SDL but it seems that their Online Support is no longer accessible, unless you have purchased their support contract

What OS are you running? Not Vista, I hope???
And where are the files residing? On an external hard drive, network volume or similar? It could be a connection issue.

But if the installation is messed up, the draconian solution is to do a clean install on a virgin Windows system...

same problem here - unable to analse, clean up ttx Jul 25, 2008

I work with Windows XP have the same error with Trados 6.5 since a couple of days

The workbench returns the following error:
(-2147418113): Unexpected error when reading file!

This occurs on any ttx, regardless of whether created by me or the customer.

When I try to analyse the ttx in Trados 7, then I get the error, that some entry point was not found in some dll, and then the same as above.

Has anybody an idea? It is really urgent

Try Registering... Jul 25, 2008

Hello All,

Try registering your Trados .dll files to Windows. Please close all SDL Trados applications before running the following files:

If you are using SDL Trados 2007:

Please go to Start -> All Programs -> SDL International -> SDL Trados 2007 -> Trados and then run the "Register SDL Trados 2007” .bat file. If you are using Windows Vista then you will need to right click on "Register SDL Trados 2007" and select "Run as Administrator" from the menu.... See more

Coincidence, or having this problem after installing QA Distiller Dec 17, 2008

Exactly the same problem experienced on my Trados 7 system after installing QA Distiller. Deinstallation/reboot didn't help, but Gareth's answer did.

Thanks Gareth!

Installing QA Distiller - never again!

I've just encountered this issue with Trados 2006 - and the Studio files don't quite behave either anymore. I had QA Distiller installed and then uninstalled it. But when I try to follow Gareth's instructions above a) the Microsoft utility invariably crashes and b) it's now telling me it's not registered at all. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Claudia
