Nee, klopt, ik bedoelde ook corrugated bulkheads en shipping. Corrugated plates was bedoeld als een referentie betreffende een meer algemeen gebruik en dus eventueel een vertaling van plooischotten.

Hier worden die plooischotten inderdaad 'corrugated bulkheads' genoemd (in de aantekeningen), zie blz 710 en verder.
En ze zien er hetzelfde uit/hebben dezelfde vorm als die in jouw referentie.

Het zou kunnen dat ze de platen uit jouw referentie bedoelen.
En volgens mij wordt dat type platen beslist niet alleen in de scheepvaart gebruikt.

Not sure if this is closed yet. Maybe corrugated instead of fluted. I have found a similar reference as Barend, using corrugated bulkheads in shipping.
In the reference below they use corrugated plates.

Hier worden juist strips haaks OP het (vlakke) oppervlak gelast om de stijfheid te vergroten.

Gevonden vertaling van BvZ is dus n.v.t. en een google op 'fluted bulkheads' levert dit op:

'Fluted' wordt ook wel gebruikt wanneer er gaten (in een rij) worden geboord ter massabesparing, dan lijkt het op een fluit!

Tenslotte leidt dit (nogmaals) tot een betere stijfheid dus met 'stiffeners' zit je dan altijd goed...!

Om een goede krachtafdracht tussen las en gording te krijgen, dienen t.p.v. de lasverbinding plooischotten aangebracht te worden (t=15 mm) in de gording (in de ref die ik noemde https://goo.gl/tTbvD1 - moet gedownload worden om te kunnen lezen).

De stiffeners lijken me een aardige suggestie, Freek, maar heb je ook referenties voor hoe die met plooischotten te maken hebben. Ik zie wel dat het schotten zijn, maar waar komt de plooi vandaan?
