1969 also saw a flurry of ring-tests being carried out at various laboratories to validate aspects of the *LCV (lead conductometric value*) for the determination of alpha acids in hops. The Analysis Committee pointed out in its communiqué that the probability of obtaining erroneous results was higher with increasing water-soluble content in the hop samples. To this end, a standard hop extract was recommended to be used to check on the accuracy of analytical results obtained.
