Bio
Who said you can’t love science AND languages?
I have combined these two seemingly contradictive passions in a melange of scientific background knowledge and linguistic finesse with just as much analytical thinking as creativity.
My academic background is in biochemistry and I still have an undying curiosity for the subject. Sometimes I even play with the idea of going back to school to get a doctorate degree. Who knows, maybe someday…
For now, I wanted to integrate my second love for languages and translation, so I went to receive excellent education and qualification in specialised translation from UCL.
Translation absolutely is my dream job as I still get to quench my everlasting thirst for knowledge in the scientific and medical field while also getting to work with a variety of texts.
I strongly believe in the importance of making all aspects of science and medicine available to as many people as possible. I thrive on removing language barriers between scientists, companies and customers to facilitate collaborations and opportunities that might have been impossible otherwise.
I do this by reading, thinking and researching like a scientist but writing as a translator. Apart from my technical skills, my empathy further allows me to really understand the reader’s perspective and localise content accordingly. As I am a German native speaker and live in my home country, I am particularly in tune with the intricacies of the culture. Although I have adopted quite a few British habits during my 5 years of living in the UK, so I still do my best work on rainy days with a nice hot cup of tea on my desk.
I take pride in not just delivering high quality specialist translations but equally great customer service.
