I first approached English at a very early age, before I even knew what was that strange words. The English study itself started when I was 7 years old in a course at my school. By the age of 12, I enrolled a proper English language school and studied there for 6 years, that was when I felt confident enough to study it by myself. My English studies proceeded by self learning until I decided to take it to the next level and started on Translation Studies.
English was always a part of my life. As many people know, English is the tongue that open doors, that leads to once unreachable material in various subjects. For that reason, English may be considered as a "lingua franca", which can be summarized as a way for people all around the globe to communicate. I needed it do access both school and personal interest material. From Biology to video games tactics, from
Physics to my favorite TV show.
As I grew, my knowledge has improved, inside school or out of it. When I was a teenager, all my hobbies included English, so I had to learn more. I was always reading a RPG book, a romance novel or playing a video game, and the language was always there. I always loved language studies, but since I already dominated English enough and couldn't make time to learn any more tongues, I only kept a self learning habit.
Life lead me to law study and I became a Lawyer. However, it was during Law school that I discovered a passion: writing. Unfortunately, here in Brasil, writing is bad business, so I stayed as a Lawyer for a few years. Even though I kept writing as a hobby I never abandoned the idea of working as a writer. As I looked for ways of sustain myself with a writing career I found a very good translating graduate course in a very renowned school. I saw in that a way of putting together two passions: writing and languages.
Looking back now, I see that writing and translating have been there for a long time. I were always writing and translating without thinking about it. English research for school and college, English books for my hobbies and several texts in web surfing. Translation were always a part of my life even though I took so long to think about a professional career. Now I don't see myself in any other career that now as a translator and a writer.
