Bio

I
have more than 20 years experience in translation world. I have been working
with many clients from various countries on varied materials, from
mining-related materials (which is my specialty thanks to my 16 years
experience working as an in-house translator in
the PT. Newmont Nusa Tenggara a subsidiary of Newmont Gold Corporation
(https://www.newmontgoldcorp.com/) a US-based mining company) to many general
and technical translations.

I
am able to work on large volume translation jobs as I am mastering and using
CAT tools such as memoQ Translator Pro 9.5, SDL Trados 2019, memoQ Project
Manager which I use to manage works with other translators if required,
Memsource, etc.

I
am a punctual person and am committed to deadline. I am also a member of
Association of Indonesian Translators (HPI) No. 01-11-0316, and I have a
Diploma in Translator Training in Mining Industry, run by a US-based Mining
Company, PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) and authorized by the Training
Accreditation Council (TAC), Western Australia, an agency of the Australian
National Training Authority (ANTA).

However,
it is my experience that taught me a lot, the best university in life. My
experience in translation is not merely something I got from learning theoretically
about translation or only because I happen to be bilingual. My 16 years working
in the mine site is the most important learning curve that shaped who I am now.
During those times, I actually translated technical materials such as heavy equipment
(backhoe loader, grade, shovel, etc) by literally and physically visited the
mine site and faced the equipment, climbed it while receiving explanations
about how it worked from the operator of the equipment. I went through the same
experience when I translated materials such as mine waste (tailings),
reclamation (environmental matters), water treatment, and boiler (power
plant/station). By this, I understand the materials to be translated better,
which makes it easier for me to translate. I also do a lot of research before
or during translating any materials especially the technical ones, which involves
research on content, term and language style. I continue applying these SOP
even after I quit my job in the mining company and decided to become a
freelance translator.

I apply
an open communication with my clients, never hesitate to discuss about a rate that
both my clients and I find comfortable and happy with. My long experience has taught me that sometimes it is not really about high or low rate, but it is about someone that you can work with comfortably and happily, a team who will help and back up each other.

I will be happy to
provide samples of my work or CV if required.
