Occurs at several points in the text in the context of sections of a box (Ladungsträger - another one I am not sure of) where components are placed. I had "slots" which I found a few times in this context, but feel unsure now and more inclined towards "holders" which could be a possibility. Example: durch die konturgenaue Aufnahme der zu verpackenden Bauteile... I had also thought of "attachments" but this does not seem to fit at all here. The following comes under the heading Aufnahmen: Zahnleiste und Verbundlösungen. I had thought of "receptacle" as this seems to fit the meaning of "something which you place something else into" but it's not really common. I now like "holder" best, but still not sure. If there any experts in this are who can offer some help, it would be very much appreciated. The context is a brochure with packaging products. I have just looked at several answers for Aufnahmen and there is one "holder" however none of the answers refer to this context.

I believe I have now found the write word, which is housing or housings. Nevertheless, thanks for all the help to all. I will award the points to David as this to me is the nearest suitable aswer for the meaning I was looking for.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. David's comment "it might even be a moulded tray in the bottom of a packing case..." is exactly what it generally appears to refer to. However, I can't seem to find bedding very much in this context although it does make sense. Compartment I don't think works because this implies a boxed shape whereas this is often talking about shapes made to accomodate the object in question. Accommodate is another one I thought of - but accommodation as a noun does not work.

I'd probably use 'bed' here; seating is another meaning of Aufnahme, it's true, but that's more commonly on a piece of machinery or a machine tool and would mean the place where a component is fitted. Here, who knows - it might even be a moulded tray in the bottom of a packing-case or box designed to transport the 'components' of which you write.

I don't think Aufnahme refers to a specific object here but to a task performed by machines. This seems to be about some kind of holding structure that is able to receive or secure building components of very particular shapes. In English, though, we may have to change the angle and talk about placing rather than receiving components:
