I'm currently translating a scientific paper (which is confidential, so I can't quote the original sentence). According to my research, "hospital de retaguarda" is a facility built for the long-term care of patients, including chronic or even terminal illnesses. However, I can't seem to find a proper translation for this term. I'm not sure a literal translation such as "surgical rear hospital" would convey the intended meaning.
