Arabic term

تُحلّق

Arabic to English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters Syria
Hi everyone,

I am translating a Syrian short story about three poor brothers who dream of becoming famous footballers. Just before this section, they have talked about how some of Brazil's most famous players today used to be poor children.

I know this verb can mean fly/hover/circle in the air/surround, but I don't see how that could fit into the English sentence idiomatically. Any ideas?

محمود وأخوته یحلمون أیضاً بفلسطین، أو بدربٍ إلیها یمرّ عبر أيّ نادٍ تبدأ مكاسبه من سندویشة فلافل، وتعلو وتعلو إلى حیث تُحلّق الیوم نجوم
البرازیل...
[draft translation] Mahmoud and his brothers dream of Palestine, too. Or at least of a path leading to it, through a club that pays in falafel sandwiches, until the pay goes up and up to...

thanks in advance!
