a ribera sud

Catalan to English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
From a document on human rights in the Mediterranean area, I am almost positive this means the countries of southern Europe, can anyone confirm or refute that? TIA!

"Treballar activament les relacions euromediterrànies, especialment el comportament de la Unió Europea respecte als països de la ribera sud."

Discussion

Gary Smith Lawson Jul 9, 2010:
south coast The EU does often talk of relations with the countries on the south coast of the Mediterranean basin. If there's no more context you'll have to get in touch with the client - I'm sure they'll be pleased to see that you notice such things, they don't tend to bite ;.)
S Ben Price (asker) Jul 9, 2010:
Southern neighbors?
S Ben Price (asker) Jul 9, 2010:
Thanks! I just found this, which backs up the North Coast of Africa. Maybe I wil just call them "countries to the south" ??

"El tema escollit va ser finalment “Religions i drets humans”, és a dir, les relacions, interaccions, límits i conflictes entre aquests dos conceptes a les dues riberes de la Mediterrània."

the north coast of Africa

I think they're referring to relations between the EU (north side of the Med) and the countries on the southern side of the Med (i.e. North Africa)
