Definicija iz Grafičke enciklopedije /Tehnička knjiga Zagreb/: "Odstupanje u registru: pogreška u registru; razlika u registru. Nepodudaranje otiska s tiskom na poleđini, odnosno s prethodnim tiskom u drugoj boji. Na rotacionim strojevima može u toku tiska doći do odstupanja u dva smjera: bočno, zbog pomicanja papirne trake ili papirnog kotura, i uzdužno, zbog nejednake brzine pojedinih agregata."
