back-up Obviously, one has to assume that the brake is battery-operated; that is relatively self-evident, and doesn't need to be expressed in the translation, since it is not explicitly stated in the source text.<br><br>However, what is explicitly stated is that the emergency brake has its own back-up battery — and that is important to include in the translation!

backed up by My understanding of the source text (the quality of the EN is a bit dubious) is that this 'emergency brake' is normally powered by (I presume) the vehicle battery, but has its own built-in back-up battery for use in the event that the main battery power should be unavailable for some reason.

That is why I felt that Arnold's initial suggestion of merely 'operated by' rather misses the point of the 'back-up' idea.

Mais cette belle mécanique demeure un mystère pour moi :

Et ce frein d'urgence comment est-il alimenté ? ou actionné ?

It goes without saying that I intended to write "le frein .....est soutenu par .. " meanwhile corrected my entry.
