horizontal v. vertical development? That context is interesting, Simon. Reading it, my instinct is that since the 9 Wohneinheiten would clearly be in some sort of tower block (since they share a Treppenhaus) the contrast is perhaps with Wohneinheiten that spread out sideways rather than upwards (i.e. a single-storey or 2-storey building containing 9 living units). Do you think that's possible?

• Wohnbauten (BehiG Art. 3 lit.c): Ab 9 Wohneinheiten am gleichen Treppenhaus muss der Zugang zu den Wohnungen hindernisfrei ausgeführt und das Wohnungsinnere den Bedürfnissen von Rollstuhlfahrenden angepasst werden können. Auch in Arealüberbauungen ist dies zu berücksichtigen.

auch? It would help to know what, if anything, the Arealüberbauungen are being contrasted with. What is the "auch" referring back to and does that shed any light on this issue?

Thanks for the points, Simon - I have put it into the glossary so that people can see the information we have provided and make their own minds up. I feel pretty confident about this term. Shame though that your client has not been back to you. Hopefully that is a good sign. I tend to read such situations like that, anyway!
