I'm translating a text which deals with technical aspects of a roof fan, accessories etc. I have been pondering how I should handle this "term" and what the tilda sign here actually stands for. It might be possible to leave the tilda sign in the translation but I'd like to know what it stands for anyway before I adopt it in my translation. I suspect it could mean "phase", so the translation could be "3-phase motor".
Other examples in the text where the tilda appears are:
1~230, which would then be "1-phase 230V (motor)"
3~400
If anybody can provide some insight, I'd appreciate it
Thanks!
