German term

aufsteigender Gang

German to English Tech/Engineering Mining & Minerals / Gems
I thought "Quarzgang" would be a vein, but reading this paragraph I am not at all sure.

The bit with "Aufsteigen heißer, erzführender Gänge" is the one that has me stumped.

Still 9 pages of 12 to go :-( but now I am calling it a day and going to watch Jackson's memorial service.

„Quarz findet man oft in aufsteigenden(d.h. vertikal verlaufenden ?)Adern“

rising hot iron ore containing veins

Massive quartz veins occur in various geological processes. Veins in shrinkage cracks of cooling granite lutons show all transitions from pegmatites to pure quartz veins. ***Rising hot iron ore containing veins may produce quartz***. Rock slates running perpendicular to chasmed / crevassed / fissured alpine veins are known for their beautiful crystal formations.

another option would be ***upwelling hot iron ore containing veins may have produced quartz*** instead of ***rising hot iron ore containing veins may produce quartz***

disagree Alan Johnson : Iron is not even mentioned in the original text.
