Indonesian term

penuh dengan sesak dan sesal

Indonesian to English Art/Literary Idioms / Maxims / Sayings birth and death certificates
In a 'cerpen', the following phrase appears: "Bulan Juni yang penuh dengan sesak dan sesal ... ." Literally translated, 'penuh sesak' means 'crowded and 'sesal' means 'remorse'. However, I need to know the idiomatic meaning of the phrase 'penuh dengan sesak dan sesal' in this context.

Selected

full with sorrow and remorse

"Sesak" in here is not "crowded", but "a feeling of suffocated" because of difficulties or regrets in life.
If you feel a very deep regret, sometimes you can't breathe --> Sesak Nafas is difficulties in breathing.
Note from asker:
I suspect this is a clue to what is coming later in the story; why the month of June is 'penuh dengan sesak dan sesal' for Bambang. Thanks so much.

full of weep, wail and regrets

tangisan, ratapan
Note from asker:
Correct English usage would be ' full of weeping, wailing and regrets'. 'Weep' and 'wail' are verbs, while 'regrets' is a noun. Thank you for your suggestion.
