Unlike most digital architects, who tend to use steel and concrete, Matthias’ team uses a lot of brick and timber. Most of the patterns are obtained by using CNC robots to assembling, which may rise a question of when is your carpenter good enough, and where is the tactility? In this case I think most of the projects have a certain way of tactility, but still, there is lack of sign of handycraft.

By felting wool from local sheep and inviting different Basque families in the region to create their own carvings in the material, Boeger's stand of "trees" gives a modern voice to an old custom and tradition. The tactility of the media and the attic nook deserve a drive up the Geiger to see... in fact I am probably going back for seconds.
