Da li da prevedem kao graduate architectural engineer? Mislim da sam videla na nekim sajtovima ovako napisano. Ili graduate engineer of architecture? U pitanju je diploma iz ove godine, ali je sistem još uvek po starom, mislim.

Pa nikada ne prevodim kako poželim nego kako mislim da treba. Ova diploma je dobijena po starom sistemu obrazovanja. Ni meni se nije vratila ni jedna diploma. A, i ja se nemam vremena jer se moram uhvatiti svoga posla.

Diplomirani inženjer arhitekture Za igibg80. Koliko se sećam ovog slučaja, dobila sam dva dokumenta. Jedan je bila diploma sa pomenutom titulom i drugi dokument koji je isto izdao fakultet u kome je pisalo da se Diplomirani inženjer arhitekture izjednačava sa zvanjem mastera kad je u pitanju nastavak obrazovanja, zapošljavanje i ne sećam se baš svega. Fakultet nije slučajno imao i taj dodatni dokumenat. Znači u to vreme nisu izdavali diplome sa zvanjem mastera. Ne smatram da bi ovo moglo predstavljati problem jer se pri nostrifikaciji diploma gledaju i drugi papiri o položenim ispitima, ponekad i ceo nastavni plan i program. Znam da je Arhitektonski fakultet u BG imao preveden ceo nastavni plan i program na engleski jezik u obliku poveće knjige. Ne mogu da nađem objašnjenje koleginice Vesne Stanković koja je lepo rekla šta je posao prevodioca u ovom slučaju.
BTW razgovorima o diplomama i zvanjima nikad kraja. Možda niste pogledali da je ova diploma iz 2009, obzirom da se pozivate na važeći zakon o visokom obrazovanju iz 2010.

You`re right. If we wish to keep the idea of >holding appropriate documentation/officially qualified to perform a function< that the word diplomirani entails, maybe we should say qualified architectural engineer instead?

A diplomirani is a "degree" (usually a first higher education degree, but sometimes equiv. to a masters). It is a diploma, or the awarding/granting of a diploma. One graduates, but that doesnt mean they are called a graduate (more a graduate student).

MA in Architecture

Being a "diplomirani inženjer arhitekture" myself, I would feel deeply offended if anyone would translate my degree in any other way.

Here's how I make the distinction between an MA and a BA when translating degrees:

In Serbia (and in most countries in the Balkans), a "diplomirani inženjer" in a technical field is someone who's education has lasted for ten semesters and who has completed a graduation project. This is equivalent to the duration and complexity of an education for an MA degree in the West.

On the other hand, the education of people who are "diplomirani" in non-technical fields has lasted for eight semesters and most of them did not need to complete a graduation project. I translate these degrees as BA's.

I engage in this practice without a shred of doubt or remorse knowing that even though this is legally a grey area, an average "diplomirani inženjer" can perform all tasks given to him by an employer who is hiring for people with MA's.

Bachelor of Architecture

Iako je tema stara, našao sam interesantnu diskusiju na arhitektonskom forumu.

Naime Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.) je jača titula od Bachelor of Science in Architecture (BS. Arch.). Na osnovu titule B. Arch. je moguće dobiti licence za projektovanje dok za BS. Arch. nije. S obzirom da u našem obrazovnom sistemu nije bilo jače titule od "diplomirani inženjer arhitekture" izuzev magistarskih i doktorskih titula, kao i na osnovu toga da se sa ovom titulom i određenim iskustvom i polaganjem stručnog ispita sticale licence, smatram da bi prevod trebao biti Bachelor of Architecture. Ispravite me ako griješim.
