Swedish term
unghögern
Swedish to English
Social Sciences
History
As in the book and subject: "Amiral Lindmans rekrytskola. Om den folkliga unghögerns verksamhet."
Of course a direct translation would be the "Young Right," however I'm not entire sure that this is the generally accepted way of expressing this movment in English.
Today it might be translated as the New Generation," but I haven't seen that translation of the unghögerns from the previous century.

the Young Right
Högern = Högerpartiet until 1969 of which Arvid Lindman was the great leader.
It was almost always called Högern (even efter 1969 (when Moderata samlingspartiet' was introduced) especially - depreciatively - by Olof Palme)

Comment: "I would think that though this is the 'right-wing youth movement,' translating it as 'the Young Right' adds the least to what the author is saying and avoids an interpretation.
In other contexts, 'the right-wing youth movement' or even the the youth wing of the Swedish Conservative Party might be what an author is intending."

right-wing youth movement
I understand this term, "unghögern", at least in this particular context, not to refer to any particular organization but to a "movement" or social configuration in a looser sense: youth with right-wing ideas.
I would prefer "right-wing" to "conservative", since modern Swedish politics is usually framed in terms of a right and left polarity and I feel "conservative" is inherently too ambiguous.
In your particular context, I would suggest "the right-wing youth movement" as a comfortable translation of "den folkliga unghögerns verksamhet" since the ideas of "popular" and "verksamhet" are already more or less implicit in that of "movement".

: I would have no problem using "conservative" in place of "right wing" however.

Yes, I believe you are right, "conservative" can be used. If it conveys the political nature of the movement better (than the word "right-wing") to the intended target group, use this word.

unghögern, the youth wing of the Swedish Conservative Party,
"Unghögern" is proper noun. Never translate proper nouns; insert explanation within commas or in a footnote, if needed.

May I humbly suggest that you read "Amiral Lindmans rekrytskola. Om den folkliga unghögerns verksamhet"? It may give you a clue about what Rickard Lindström meant with "unghögern"; and it's really only what he meant that matters.
