toward the boards/"outwards"

"bordvart" is a direction onboard, meaning toward the boards of the hull("outwards"), as opposed to toward midship line ("inwards").

Ref is not complete but might help you out with some terms, and has Swedish explanations.

Thank you Mario!
disagree Mårten Sandberg : Ref is wrong. Pointless saying a window is "bordvart". They probably mean "lovart"(from the context), which btw is the opposite of lee.

agree Charles Highlander : the sentence is faulty but the meaning here is along the bulwarks Bordvarts means to port or the left!

Sorry, should be windward.
Peer comment(s):

disagree Mårten Sandberg : Windward=Lovart: "direction or side from which wind blows; side exposed to the wind ". You mixed up "lovart"(opposite of lee) and "bordvart".

Thank you Mårten. Gullberg does actually give 'wingward' not 'windward'. However, I'm out of my depth here although I do live in a naval town.
