aching muscles and a racing pulse

Lactic acid forms in muscles that are being exercised for a long time, and the pulse rate also races when exhausted.
Peer comment(s):

agree Helen Johnson : If more emphasis is needed on the flow of advertisng text, I think this fits in nicely, although the other two answers are correct in themselves.

disagree Kent Andersson : The muscles are tired from aching muscles and racing pulse? Does not make sense.

The reference to lactic acid is only relevant to the more sports-oriented Scandinavians. It is important here to look at the spirit of the text and convey that, rather than translating literally and making no sense to the presumptive target audience.
agree EKM : 'Mjölksyra' is a standard Swedish phrase f. the effects of lactic acid following intense exercise. I agree with your assessment, the source text is very culture-specific with puns and awkardness that work ok in a Swedish context but do not translate well.

lactic acid (accumulation) and maximum heart rate

The problem is that lactic acid (mjölksyra ) accumulates in the muscles and this may cause them to hurt (see example 1 for lactic acid accumulation.
I think 'maximum heart rate (MHR)' is the closest equivalent of the Swedish word 'maxpuls'. See example 2, where the abbreviation of the English term is used in a Swedish text.
Example sentence:

High-repetition, short-rest interval anaerobic exercise results in a significant amount of lactic acid accumulation within the working muscles [...]

Du kan ta reda på din maxpuls (MHR) via ett MHR test

lactic acid accumulation and hard work

The source text sounds a little strange. Massageable muscles that got tired from maximum heart rate? I'd rather say that they got tired from hard work. I doubt they a giving heart massage :-)
