English to Russian: Osteoporosis General field: Medical
Source text - English Osteoporosis is a skeletal disorder characterized by compromised bone strength predisposing a person to an increased risk of fracture. The most important outcome is fracture, and fracture risk depends on bone strength that is determined by bone mineral density (BMD) and bone quality. Because clinical assessment of "bone quality" has not been well developed, diagnosis of osteoporosis has been mainly dependent on BMD. Thus, caution would be needed in the interpretation of previous studies reporting prevalence of "osteoporosis" in COPD as most of them referred to low BMD as osteoporosis while some reports only analyzed fracture prevalence.
Translation - Russian Остеопороз - это заболевание скелета, характеризующееся нарушением прочности кости и предрасположенностиью человека к повышенному риску переломов. Наиболее важным исходом является перелом, риск которого зависит от прочности костей, которая определяется минеральной плотностью костной ткани (МПКТ) и ее качеством. Поскольку клиническая оценка «качества костной ткани» не очень хорошо развита, диагноз остеопороза зависит главным образом от МПКТ. Таким образом, необходима осторожность в интерпретации предыдущих исследований описывающих распространенность «остеопороза» при ХОБЛ, поскольку большинство из них считают остеопорозом только низкую МПКТ, в то время как в других работах анализируется только частота переломов.
