La destinazione diventa essa stessa fonte d’ispirazione, creando in me molteplici sensazioni.
Come
Ho sempre cercato di sperimentare molto nel mio lavoro, usando vari materiali, come frammenti di specchi, superfici riflettenti naturali, come l’acqua, piani deformanti, e gelatine colorate.

Translation - English About me
I am Monica De Marinis and I have been working in photography for more than twenty years. I have been passionate about this art form since I was a child, when travelling with my mother I made photos with single use cameras, letting myself be intrigued by the magnificent landscapes and the different cultures that I encountered. Growing up, I felt in me the desire to evolve my passion into a real job. I consider myself a person who encounters their emotions, using the photography to try to give life to an unreal and fairy-tale vision of the world with respect to reality, sometimes sad. Initially, I liked to photograph people, as you can see in my Portraits/People Project. Later, over the years, I changed “photographic subject”. My interest has gradually shifted towards an increasingly intimate photograph, a mirror of a soul that in its youth fought an enemy invisible to the eyes of most people, which made me skinless. Today my shots are calmer, I would call them more conscious.
What
I photograph for the desire to block and eternalize in my memory a moment, to express my emotions and my visions. At the beginning, my photos were made and built mainly in “studio”, starting from a well-defined project. Then I went to plan less, photographing by instinct, based on fleeting inspiration. Everything I encountered on the street and that struck my attention, without a fixed subject, that varied from the portrait to the landscape up to the dematerialization of the textures. As you can see in the Miscellaneous Project, my work is aimed at sensitive and curious interlocutors and does not have a well-defined target of age and/or sex.
Location
The place where I carry out my work varies depending on the reason for the project. If it is intended for a customer, I will either go to the studio or look for suitable locations to meet their requests.
Instead, when I develop my personal projects, if I don't use the study, I often go to natural spaces, possibly almost desert, and wherever there is water, in every form and substance. You will find some images within the macro area Nature/Landscapes
I also click every time I happen to leave because the journey itself transforms me, adds a little more to my story, to myself-knowledge. Destination itself becomes a source of inspiration, creating in me multiple sensations.
When
The time I devote to my images, such as the place, varies according to their purpose, whether they are destined for an exhibition, a competition, or the commission of a customer, the production times have a well-defined date. My studies, on the other hand, are research that I have been carrying out for years, such as the work of deformations, dissimulations expressed through various plays of lights and reflections.
Why
I chose photography as a means of expression because I believe that the image has a more instantaneous impact than the word since it travels on universal communicative levels, understandable to everyone, beyond their language, creed or culture.
How
I have always tried to experiment a lot in my work, using various materials, such as fragments of mirrors, natural reflective surfaces, such as water, warping planes, and coloured jellies.
