German term
auf-/abtrommeln
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Ships, Sailing, Maritime
I need urgent help with these terms that came out of left field in an operating manual for a hydraulic power system controlling winches for the sails of a ship.
Ziehen der Tasten bedeutet auftrommeln bzw. Leine holen und Drücken bedeutet abtrommeln bzw. fieren.
Thanks!

Come to think of it, I would probably replace "reel out" with "pay out", for nautical use.
