Having been involved in nearly the last fifty years in professional activities within high responsibility areas like Defense, Technology Transfer contracts with different governments, Maritime Transportation, Shipbuilding and others (see resume), I performed countless translations of critical documents requiring top quality.

Furthermore, my activities as project engineer and industrial manager of precision manufacturing operations have built through all my performed jobs a sense of total quality assurance which is now embodied in everything I do for any job.

Only recently have I decided to pursue freelance technical translation as a specific activity. Consequently, I could produce many personal and professional references to present here, but none as a pro-translator. However, the simple execution of sample translation tests recently brought to surface a striking truth: without the baggage of theory and deep practice of how industrial machines and processes work, technical translation jobs would never result in quality work if not done by a person with an experience level as mine. Call the best linguist in the world, with a PhD in Translation, and you would have a well presented, well edited and correctly spelled poor technical paper. Final users would not be satisfied.

Being a native Brazilian Portuguese speaker with a US Citizenship, I elected English to Portuguese as my preferred language pair. Secondary pairs would be Portuguese-English, Spanish-Portuguese and French-Portuguese.

With the preferred EN-PT pair, and considering technical jobs, I can produce now a rate of 400 source words translated and proofread per hour and can work up to eight hours per day if needed. I work with Trados 2011 Suite and my target texts can be delivered in many formats.
