Source text - Spanish En Estados Unidos, el cine tuvo un éxito arrollador, por una peculiar circunstancia social: al ser un país de inmigrantes, muchos de los cuales no hablaban el inglés, tanto el teatro como la prensa o los libros les estaban vedados por la barrera idiomática, y así el cine mudo se transformó en una fuente muy importante de esparcimiento para ellos.
Translation - English In the USA, cinema was overwhelmingly successful due to a peculiar social feature: as a country of immigrants, many of whom didn't speak any English, theatre, newspapers and books were off-limits due to the language barrier. Therefore, silent films became a vital source of entertainment for them.
