At every deposition I attended when I was practicing law, and at which there was an interpreter present, I always thought to myself that the interpreter was the happiest person in the room. After my daughter was born, the stress and time demands of practicing law stopped making sense to me. I never loved practicing law, and in 2015, I started pestering a friend of mine who owns a translation agency. "Let me do a translation for you," I asked. She resisted. I insisted. Finally, I proposed that the next small job she got, that she should assign it to one of her translators, and to me. I'd submit my translation for her to compare to the work submitted by her proven translator.

"Who helped you with this?" was her reply. I've been translating for her ever since, and I love it more every day. I also interpret at depositions, hearings and mediations, and my work has been well received.
