Source text - English Papal Bull(story) Some impostures are so bizarre, so daring – so impossible, in fact – as to gain an unbreakable grip on the public imagination. None, however, has combined improbability with persistence to greater effect than the legend of Pope John Anglicus – familiarly, Pope Joan.
The idea that one of the Roman Catholic popes was female was recurrent, surfacing occasionally between the ninth and the seventeenth centuries. Though never named – Joan apparently came into common parlance as a female corollary of John – the papal female supposedly ruled the Church for several years, between Leo IV and Benedict III. (Here, timing alone calls the legend into question. Official histories show Leo’s rule ending in 855 and Benedict reigning from 855 to 858.) Nonetheless, according to the account of Marcus Polonus, a thirteenth century Dominican friar, the German-born female pope was taken to Athens and dressed as a man by a lover. “There she became proficient in a diversity of branches of knowledge, until she had no equal,” Polonus said, “and afterwards in Rome, she taught the liberal arts and had great masters among her students and audience. A high opinion of her life and learning arose in the city, and she was the choice of all for pope.”

Source text - English The fact is, enjambement and caesura, these two -- what shall we call them? techniques, effects, tricks, devices, tools? -- however we describe them, are crucial liverators of the iambic line. They either extend or break the flow, allowing the rhythms and heistations of human breath, thought and speech to enliven and enrich the verse. They are absolutely not a failure to obey the rules of pentameter.
Lets look again at Wordsworth:
Thus far, O Friend! did I, not used to make
A present joy the matter of a song,
Pour forth that day my soul in measured strains
that would not be forgotten, and are here
Recorded: to the open fields I told
A prophecy: poetic numbers came
Spontaneously to clothe in priestly robe
A renovated spirit singled out,
