Discussion

Jerzy Matwiejczuk May 8, 2011:
Human capital as a form of 'intellectual capital':
"human capital - That form of intellectual capital that resides in the knowledge and skills of human resources. Human capital is lost to an organization (and becomes available to a competitor) when the human embodying it leaves the organization. To become structural capital it must be recorded in some tangible form or used to modify the structure or procedures used by the organization."

Jerzy Matwiejczuk May 8, 2011:
Intellectual capital "Intellectual capital is knowledge that can be exploited for some money-making or other useful purpose. The term combines the idea of the intellect or brain-power with the economic concept of capital, the saving of entitled benefits so that they can be invested in producing more goods and services. Intellectual capital can include the skills and knowledge that a company has developed about how to make its goods or services; individual employees or groups of employees whose knowledge is deemed critical to a company's continued success; and its aggregation of documents about processes, customers, research results, and other information that might have value for a competitor that is not common knowledge. It is exactly what is meant by 'potencjał intelektualny firmy' in Polish. To try to translate, it is necessary to understand both languages.

"Human Capital
The value that the employees of a business provide through the application of skills, know how and expertise. Human capital is an organization’s combined human capability for solving business problems. Human capital is inherent in people and cannot be owned by an organization. Therefore, human capital can leave an organization when people leave. Human capital also encompasses how effectively an organization uses its people resources as measured by creativity and innovation."

intellectual capability

for development of the intellectual capability of the company.
"intellectual potential" is too jargonistic in English, and is too non-literal.
"intellectual capital" is incorrect because it includes, and indeed primarily includes, "intellectual property". Caution!
"brain power" is much too non-literal, and too colloquial.
Peer comment(s):

neutral Jerzy Matwiejczuk : 'Intellectual capability' is a personal attribute of an individual rather than a group or a company.

I think you are wrong, Pan Softwares. Incidentally "human capital" is 100% different from "intellectual capital"!!
