It's a trademark. I wonder what is the meaning of this word. Thank you.

Non-ProZ.com Feb 9, 2005:
by the way - the trademark I am referring is owned by an Italian firm so it's rather an Italian than a Chinease word :)
most probably it has nothing to do with ";www.riko.com " - the same word in different country may be owned as a trademark by fifferent firms

Who knows? We don't have much context to go by...
Non-ProZ.com Feb 9, 2005:

Ricoh

"Ricoh" is also the name of a very large (worldwide) manufacturer and distributor of printers, copiers, fax machines, office equipment etc. As juvera points out, it's also the name of a manufacturing and real estate company in Osaka, Japan. In Japanese, the word "Riko" means "cleverness, intelligence, wisdom" and also "skill, aptitude, ability". HTH.

Since you said it\'s a trademark I thought this was a good possibility, the company name IS their trademark, it\'s on everything they sell, make and distribute.

In English, nothing -

- but it may be an allusion to the word "rico", which means "rich" in Spanish and Portuguese. Possibly also in Italian?

I just checked the site www.riko.com - don\'t know if that\'s the one you\'re referring to, but it\'s a Taiwanese company, so it may be a Chinese/Taiwanese word. You may want to post the question under the relevant language pair, if that\'s the case.

Ok, since you mention that it\'s an Italian firm - just checked the Italian word for \"rich\", it\'s \"ricco\" - so the company name \"Riko\" may well be a modified spelling of the Italian word for \"rich\". THat\'s my best guess.
