Spanish term

azucarillo

Spanish to English Art/Literary Music title of an album
Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente.
I can only find sugar foam as a translation which doesn't sound too appealing. I know that it is a sweet food but is there an English equivalent?
Proposed translations (English)

Discussion

JoseAlejandro Apr 30, 2007:
you all know there used to be a band called the Sugarcubes? That's where Bjork started.
John Cutler Apr 30, 2007:
If this is the title of an album, shouldn't you just leave it untranslated?
Juan Jacob Apr 29, 2007:
Where is this from... never heard azucarillo?

sugar cubes /sugar lumps

I am not quite sure, but these are the ones that come to my mind.
Azucarillos may be the little sugar cubes for coffee or tea.
Also is a kind of sweet made of syrup and egg white. In this case (your term) it seems to be this second meaning, as it's usual to have these azucarillos along with other two..

yes patricia, you are right. That is actually something I didn't think of. These type of names (books, films, ...)shouldn't be translated.

More on Meringue:

"sweet topping especially for pies made of beaten egg whites and sugar" according to http://www.wordreference.com/definition/Meringue

Which is not just for pies, but also for drinks: "The drink has lemon juice and egg whites as a base, and essentially, you are creating a meringue." according to http://luxuryexperience.com/liquor_cabinet/liquor_events/200...
Example sentence:

As in "Lemon Meringue Pie".

Peer comment(s):

neutral patricia scott : Although both meanings apply, azucarillos in plural wouldn't refer to this.
