English to Arabic: Bird by Bird: Anne Lamott’s Timeless Advice on Writing and Why Perfectionism Kills Creativity
Source text - English So she found refuge in books, searching for “some sort of creative or spiritual or aesthetic way of seeing the world and organizing it in [her] head.” To find that, she became a writer and began fantasizing about getting published, about “the thrill of seeing oneself in print,” as the highest form of existential validation. When she published her first book, she awaited the affirming grandeur of public approval and secretly thought that “trumpets would blare, major reviewers would proclaim that not since Moby Dick had an American novel so captured life in all of its dizzying complexity.” Of course, none of this happened — not with the first book, nor the second or third or fourth or fifth. Instead, what Lamott found was a deeper kind of reward — that sensation “unmerited grace” that Annie Dillard so eloquently captured in her timeless meditation on the writing life.

English to Arabic: How to Break the Rules of Writing
Source text - English Realize that great writing starts with an appetite for life. Ideas and real-life experience to inform your writing are everywhere—but the most compelling ones may not be out in the open, plain for anyone to see. So don’t be timid: Say yes to opportunities that come your way—even (especially) the strange ones. Sneak backstage. Do something that makes you nervous. Try stepping outside your comfort zone, and you’ll find that the benefits far outweigh the discomfort of your sweaty palms. This tip lies at the heart of Elizabeth Sims’ wonderful article “The Reluctant Risk-Taker’s Guide to Filling the Creative Well.” Here’s one of my favorite parts:
Eavesdrop. It’s illicit, it’s impolite, and it’s great fun. … I used to do a lot of writing at a particular Starbucks in my town. Once in a while I’d see a certain type of couple: a young man sitting drinking coffee with a much older woman. Their conversations were quiet and remarkably intense. And I saw this over and over, with a different young-guy-older-woman combo every time.
I started to wonder. And I started to purposefully, stealthily eavesdrop. I started to look at the bigger picture, and realized that the coffee shop happened to be across the way from an armed forces recruitment center—and these young men and … their mothers had just been there. They’d come out and seen the Starbucks and decided to come in and talk it over.
The faces I saw and the conversations I overheard there were too intimate to recount here, but they informed me as a writer.
Eavesdrop. Write it down. Repeat.
Translation - Arabic اعلم أن الكتابات العظيمة تنشأ مع الرغبة في الحياة. فالأفكار والخبرات التي تأتي من واقع الحياة والتي تقوم بتشكيل كتاباتك موجودة في كل مكان، ولكنَّ أكثر هذه الأفكار إقناعاً هي تلك غير الظاهرة للعيان والتي قد يكون من الصعب لأي شخص أن يدركها. لذلك لا تكن الشخص الجبان واغتنم الفرص المتاحة وخاصة الغريبة منها. تسلل وراء الكواليس، اقبل بالأشياء التي توترك، حاول أن تخطو خطوة خارج منطقة الراحة التي تعيش فيها، ستجد أن المنافع التي سوف تجنيها تفوق المشقة التي تكبدتها راحة يديك المتعرقتين. تعتبر هذه النصيحة جوهر مقالة اليزابيث سيمز الرائعة “The Reluctant Risk-Taker’s Guide to Filling the Creative Well” وهنا مقطع من المقاطع المفضلة لدي من هذه المقالة:
التنصّت، فعل غير مشروع وغير لائق ولكنه في نفس الوقت فعل تصاحبه متعة كبيرة.. اعتدت ممارسة الكتابة بكثرة أثناء جلوسي في فرع معين لمحل قهوة ستاربكس في مدينتي. وأرى بين فترة وأخرى صنفًا معيّنًا من الأزواج: شاب يشرب قهوته بصحبة امرأة أكبر منه سناً بكثير، وكانت حواراتهم هادئة وعاطفية بشكل ملحوظ. كنت أرى هذا المنظر مراراً وتكرارً في كل مرة ولكن مع زوجين مختلفين.
بدأت في التساؤل، والتنصت خلسة وبتركيز، وأوسعت نطاق رؤيتي فأدركت تصادف وجود المقهى في الجهة المقابلة لمركز تجنيد القوات المسلحة – وأيقنت أن هولاء الشبان وأمهاتهم كانوا للتو متواجدين هناك. لابد وأنهم خرجوا من المعسكر فوقعت أعينهم على المقهى فقرروا أن يأتوا لتبادل أطراف الحديث.

English to Arabic: Finding another language
Source text - English The richness of that other language is an oil well. It can unstick and propel the poem when it’s plum tuckered, when it’s completely jammed and baffled. In this sense – for me anyway – the use of dialogue in poetry is less about the introduction of another point of view than it is about introducing another kind of language, and when I think more on this, it occurs to me that finding another kind of language is the entire task of poetry. It’s the entire task of literature. The writers whose work I most admire, whose work I most desire to emulate, are those who use the words I wouldn’t think to use, who put those words together in arrangements that wouldn’t occur to me. This is what every stunning image, every good story and literary epiphany are made of: language jiggered and refigured.
Translation - Arabic فثراء تلك اللغة الأخرى يعتبر كبئر نفط، إذ باستطاعتها تحرير وحث القصيدة عندما تعييها الحيلة وتكون مرهقة وعالقة بشكل كامل. ومن هذا المنطلق – بالنسبة لي على أية حال – فإن إستخدام أسلوب التحاور في الشعر لغرض تقديم وجهة نظر أخرى يعتبر أقل إذا تمت مقارنته باستخدامه لغرض تقديم نوع آخر من اللغة، وعندما أمعن التفكير في هذا الأمر فإنه يتبادر إلى ذهني أن العثور على نوع آخر من اللغة هي المهمة الرئيسية للشعر بل إنها المهمة الرئيسية للأدب بأكمله. فالكتّاب الذين يعجبني أعمالهم بشكل كبير هم مَن أعمالهم تولّد فيّ الرغبة بشكل أكبر لمحاكاتها، وكذلك الذين يستخدمون كلمات لايخطر في مخيلتي أن أقوم بإستخدامها، أولئك الكتاب الذين يصيغون هذه الكلمات معاً في صيغ لا تخطر على بالي. فكل صورة فاتنة وكل قصة جيدة وكل إلهام شعري هي نتاج إعادة تشكيل وتعديل للغة.
