It is still far too early to firmly decide where to go but "thinking about it" is no crime either.

I was thinking about a Korean restaurant in Koreatown, close to the Christie Subway: easy to reach, great food, cheap. This is, after all, the most multicultural city on the planet.

What do you think?

Bart,

That sounds like a good idea! Let's try to get a separate room for the group at whichever restaurant we choose. That's what we did at the last meeting and it worked out really nicely!

I'll have a look around in Koreatown, in a week or two.

Anyone is welcome Jul 19, 2002

The meetings are casual, anyone (and guests) is welcome. You might bring a picture ID, if you want "identity verification" for your profile.

Welcome Jul 19, 2002

Thanks, Henry. I am rather corpsy quiet right now but by the end of the month, I will be my old yap-yap-yapyapping self again.

I will bring my trusted digital camera as well so that we can make any and all pictures, needed or otherwise.

I will go on a 'fact-finding mission' to Koreatown in a week or so. I do have an absolute favourite in Koreatown but I am not sure if they have private rooms. We will see.

Korean Village, 628 Bloor St.W. (416) 536-0290 is very popular with Koreans and has lovely atmosphere.

I'm sorry, I'll have to cancel. Unfortunately my cousin is getting married on that day. We were looking forward to the powwow and will be looking for future meetings.

Hello everybody, I just came back from my somewhat overdue 'fact-finding' mission to Koreatown.

Korea House

Toronto, Ontario

They propose a buffet style menu with 9 different Korean dishes and 5 different side dishes for CAD 15 per person.

Getting there is extremely easy.

Bloor Street is one of the major streets of Toronto and finding it is no problem. Also, parking in that neighbourhood is not as much a problem as in other areas of Toronto and it is very close (half a block or so) from Christie Pits Park.

A big fan of public transportation myself, I definitely recommend coming by subway. In that case: get off at Christie station. When you get out, go to the left and turn left on Bloor Street. Korea House is about half a block from there on the same side of the street so you don't even need to cross Bloor Street.

Korean food
Great variety
Inexpensive
Easy to get there
Fantastic company
What more do we need?

Sorry Robert Aug 15, 2002

Korean Village is a very nice place too. The reason I decided to go for Korea House is that Korea House is more 'really' Korean. That's the same reason I decided not to go for my old favourite that is even closer to Christie Pitts Park.

Also, the Korea House people are extremely friendly and that's quite a powerful argument with me ^_^.

Hope to see you!

My apologies :-( Aug 26, 2002

I have to cancel my attendance of the powwow this Saturday: I will have to entertain out of town guests coming to Toronto for the Labor Day weekend
I hope that is not going to be much of an inconvenience. Once again, my apologies.
Yours,
Irina Filippova
