Similar problems here - solved Dec 15, 2010

Got 2009 and 2007 working here - I had a similar problem with the termbase, it wasn't displaying at all on my setup.

Much head scratching later I saw the announcement in the home page on Studio 2009 for a KB article.

Article No. 3093 from 5/31/2010

There is a zip file included called LaunchStudio.zip - this has a batch file in it which does the trick for me.

It appears my problems were caused after I ran 2007 Workbench, there was some Registry Magic or something that went on, the bat file sorts it out.

Bit of a pain, but it may help you. Good luck.

This bat file is designed for Studio SP2 Dec 15, 2010

and will most probably NOT help for same problems with SP3.
In case of SP3 Side-by-Side tools do provide the same solution.

Worked for me in SP3 though. Dec 15, 2010

Jerzy, I run SP3 here, and it did the trick. Other people's mileage may vary, but it helped me and didn't take too long to download, or involve me having to downgrade the SP version etc which the OP seems to be having to do.

Incidentally, I gather from another colleague who also had the same problem - no termbase terms appearing in the top RH window (default location) or bars over words in the source. Again SP3, ran 2007 Workbench and lost the termbase functionality, so it may not j

Possibly worth a try for the OP?

No term recognition after running WB Dec 15, 2010

This is what I also have with SP3. But instead of using LaunchStudio.bat I use Activate MT 2009 instead - and this comes from Side-by-Side tools.
I am not sure where the difference is, but SideBySide is what was intended to be used with SP3.
You can find those either in MultiTerm program group or as a subfolder in MT installation folder.
However if the LaunchStudio.bat works for you, it's fine.

I am now running SP3, and the SideBSide tools are not working!
When I run Repair 2009, the last two points don't work and I get this error message:

Status update Dec 17, 2010

Ok, somehow I managed to get term recognition working again, but with the same problem as originally in SP2, namely that only some terms are auto-completed, others show a red line but have to be entered manually.
However, now I cannot enter or edit terms from the studio interface. A Java error pops up, Java 5.0 needs to be installed, but it already is and then the error message comes that it needs to be de-installed first, then reinstalled, but regardless of how many times I de-install and

This situation cannot be solved remotedly Dec 17, 2010

I'm afraid. Could you please try to contact Trados support?
There is more than just Java problems in your PC and without being in front of it I cannot help anymore, my knowledge ends here.

Thank you so much for all your help and efforts, Jerzy!!! Dec 17, 2010

I think it is absolutely awesome that you try so hard to help others with Trados!

Well, we'll have to see how I can get this one solved. I tried system restore, but that didn't work either, so I don't know.... Perhaps the next hotfix?

Solved with Java RTE 1.6.0_14 Jul 7, 2013

I know this is long after the issue has been posted here, but I am sure there are people like me who just came around this today and my answer might be useful because I just solved the problem.

After reading here and there, I came to the conclusion that Studio 2009 and Multiterm 2009 need Java 1.6.0_14 and Java 1.5.0_10 to work properly.

Go to Panel Control > Java and check the versions you have installed. If these are not the ones (in my case the 1.6.0_14 had been repl

Go to Panel Control > Java and check the versions you have installed. If these are not the ones (in my case the 1.6.0_14 had been replaced by 1.6.0_3x), then erase it and replace it by the right one.

It can be hard to find older versions of Java, but you can try a site called oldapps or, even easier, I realized that Studio 2009 brings the exe itself. Check C:\Archivos de programa\SDL\Installers\SDLTradosStudio2009SP3\modules (or the equivalent in your system) and it should be there. Install it, re run Studio 2009 and it should work

Hope this helps somebody else like it helped me!
