I just accepted the latest update suggested by Studio 2011 (SP2R) and with trepidation I went to check whether MultiTerm would still work, i.e. whether I could still add/edit terms. I can't... I can't... Big sigh... This is not a Java problem. I worked in Studio 2011 and added terms to MultiTerm yesterday and have not updated Java in the meantime. This is an SDL problem. I have had this problem before, and SDL have fixed the issue via an online support session, which took quite a while, and things have worked fine since then. The only thing that has changed in my computer setup since then is that I have accepted an update for Studio 2011. This is so frustrating. I have already wasted half an hour this morning looking for a solution here and in the SDL Knowledge Base, but to no avail. And frankly, I dont' have the time to fiddle around with these things every time there is a 'helpful' update. Moan over... Can anybody help, please? For the record, I am working with Windows 7, and my Java version is 7 55.

When I try to add a term in Studio to a termbase "Java needs updating" or similar appears in the termbase editing window..........very strange, unfortunately (as is nearly always the case) the update is a step backwards before any forward steps are taken..... Let's hope SDL sort it out soon..... ;@) | | | Neil Ashby Spain Local time: 07:41 Spanish to English + ... Updated Java and now working okay..... | May 14, 2014 |
Hi Gitte, I've updated Java and allowed the program to access Multiterm files and it now works okay (after restarting both IE and Trados 2011). Good luck!! ;@) Neil | | | Neil Ashby Spain Local time: 07:41 Spanish to English + ...
P.S. Update Java by simply clicking on the page that appears in the Term editing window

Hi Neil As I mentioned, mine is not a Java problem. I have not had any error message, as you have, about Java. My problem is simply that I get a blank field in MultiTerm when I try to add/edit any term. But I'm glad your problem is now solved. Rather disconcertingly, each time I add a new term I have to give permission to connect with a web.....what are SDL up to? | | | Neil Ashby Spain Local time: 07:41 Spanish to English + ... OKay Gitte, I see your problem is different then.... | May 14, 2014 |
...sorry I wasn't of any help. :@( I hope somebody who knows more about IT than I do, or better still someone from SDL, can shed some light on the situation. Good luck. | | | Try repairing Multiterm | May 14, 2014 |
Without any guarantee, of course... and ALL reservations for different setups and whatever. I am working with Studio and Multiterm 2014, but they are very similar apart from some cosmetics and a few neat additions. I had a similar problem and sent a mail to SDL, or several to be precise. This was the solution that worked: _______________________________________ Please try to repair your MultiTerm. In order to do that, please open Control Panel ->... In order to do that, please open Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> SDL MultiTerm 2014 Core -> Repair. Do the same thing for SDL MultiTerm 2014 Desktop. _______________________________________ It only takes a few minutes, and in principle the worst that can happen is - nothing. In practice, I am always very nervous about this procedure, but it has worked for me a couple of times. Hope it helps, and best of luck! ▲ Collapse
