I have just upgraded from 6.5 to 7, and just wanted to explain how I did the upgrade, since I now have a fully working system with Trados 7 installed and working just fine.
First I backed up my termbases in the Multiterm I used to work with (6.2). I did an regular export, and the xdt-files where placed in the same directory so that I could easily import the termbases later.
Then I removed Multiterm 6.2 from my system, and installed MT7.

Then I installed Trados7 without removing Trados6.5.
Then I opened Word (2000), and the Multiterm template gave a error message. I solved this by checking short cuts crashes, and deleted normal.dot. Then everything worked!
I am not sure if this will work for any installation, but it might be worth a try. Good luck. ▲ Collapse

Registering Trados 7
Jun 26, 2005
Thanks for sharing this, Ivan! Just one thing to add:
Then I installed Trados7 without removing Trados6.5.
As with previous versions, this is possible (albeit not recommended); you should make sure, however, that you register the version you wish to use (Start - Programs - Trados FLx.x - Register Trados x.x).
Best regards, Ralf
