Dear all,

We have decided to invest in a professional CAT tool. In that context, we would be very interested to hear of experiences (both good and bad) that small translation companies/agencies have had in using CAT software.
The features we are most interested in are: 1) Ability to manipulate TM in a wide range of language pairs (for in-house and free-lance translation) 2) ability to use past client translation material for TM
We would be most grateful for any practical pointers.

Good morning!
You are in a situation we found ourselves in a couple of years ago. I can very well understand your concerns and know how tedious and truly time consuming the research, trials and implementation can be. We found ourselves comparing "the big players" first and were not overly impressed with the price and user friendliness. After a while someone pointed us to Fusion - a software that is being developed by a new player on the market, whereby this company finally listens to freelance translators and agencies and their needs. We are very impressed with the user friendliness and fast implementation and actually got so excited about the product, that we betatested the first version. ProZ is distributing the product and it should be well worth your while to check it out at www.ProZ.com/Fusion. You can download the software for a free trial to see for yourself if this would be a good match for you and your agency.
Feel free to contact me, should you have any more detailed questions! I'd be interested in hearing your feedback too, should you decide to give it a try.
