I have a question regarding the Japanese tax system - do Japanese companies have a VAT/other tax registration number? The problem is that I am obliged to indicate this number on my invoices, but the Japanese company I have been working for tells me such number does not exist there.
Thank you very much in advance!
Svetlana

No Tax Number
Nov 10, 2011
As far as I know, we don't have the number which is equivalent to VAT number. Some of my clients sometimes asked to submit the VAT or tax number but I always had to say there are no such systems.
Depends on the tax paying method, some people have tax payer number but it isn't the one like VAT number. It's just for simplifying the procedure of paperworks.
I hope this answer might a bit help for you.
