Translation, editing, writing: broadening the scope and setting limits

DATE
Friday & Saturday 30-31 October 2009

VENUE
European Institute of the Mediterranean, Carrer Girona 20, Barcelona, Spain

Note that the conference fee also includes ONE Knowledge Update/Training Workshop, on either Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

The CONFERENCE keynote speakers are literary (Peter Bush) and historical (Thomas F Glick) this year, although there's a lot of other interesting content, on subjects such as plagiarism, revision and editing, corpus use, and computer-associated themes (CAT, portability, ergonomics).

The WORKSHOPS include corpus-guided translation (in two parts), planning and leading interactive activities in workshops and training sessions, anatomy of the thorax, improving text flow (focus on punctuation), readability (10 strategies for improving flow in translated or non-English speakers’ texts), study designs in medical research (reporting structures and roles in knowledge-building), righting Citing (principles and strategies for editors and translators).
