Lota: not here, not THIS nalewka. See the link provided by Piotr and you will know what I'm talking about. It's cheap stuff, more or less spirit mixed with some fruit fragrance, cherry or strawberry or raspberry. And sweetened, yes. The label says: nalewka, all right. You can find the stuff in nearly every grocery store in Poland and it's a favourite beverage of bums of all sorts. Read Adrian's context again - "w ekskluzywnym miejscu bez towarzystwa konsumentów taniego wina i nalewek". Very definitely it's not about dry herbal tinctures. Both cider and nalewka can be very expensive and refined, but they not always are ;)

Comment: "Phew! In the end I used my own answer fruit liquor, but Allp's explanation was most helpful. Cordial in UK is very much 'squash' i.e. sweet stuff for kids which you mix with water. writing other cheap alcholic drinks just seems to avoid the issue and says not much. Fruit liqueur is ok, but it doesn't sound down and dirty enough for this context, tincture sounds like some kind of medicine, aged alcoholic infusion frankly is a silly suggestion, and rotgut is bound to raise eyebrows. fruit brandy doesn't make any sense at all, and again sounds far too posh. Thanks for your help and interesting thoughts, I'm sure many of you disagree, never mind. As always it's just my opinion.
PS. someone gave a link to a picture of nalewka and underneath it says 'the cheapest liquor in Poland'."

(cheap) fruit wine
In this context simply saying "fruit wine" or "cheap fruit wine" will convey the meaning adequately, since "nalewka" meant as a cheap, lower quality liquor is a fruity home made concoction. This is notwithstanding the fact that better quality liquors such as wisniowka are also called nalewka.
Peer comment(s):

Andrzej Lejman

(homemade) aged alcoholic infusion
infusion conveys the meaning of "nalewka" (something being infused) but "nalewkas" are typically aged and always alcoholic. This term has been registered with the EU. An example is "wisniowka", an aged alcoholic infusion made with cherries. Usually fruit but also herbs and spices can be used in these infusions.

OK.In your context you can say "cheap liquor" and in this case "liquor" makes sense (rather than liqueur which this drink it is NOT, most likely). "cheap wine and (fruit) liquor" will describe it.

fruit liqueur, homemade wine

homemade wine -here you can see an example

fruit liqueur

ratafia is also possible, but it is too French
I personally prefer fruit liqueur

cheap fruit wines and other cheap alcoholic drinks

Fortified wines of minimal price and quality have a reputation as the intoxicant of choice among the underage and poor; they are often known as "bum wines", due to their association with the homeless. They are typically fortified with grain alcohol rather than brandy. Most such wines have harsh flavors and are not favored by more typical wine drinkers.

cheap wine and cheap fruit "brandy"
The whole series is a big mess. The understanding we have from the context is that "nalewka" here it to be a cheap kind of drink (not to be sold in an exclusive shop and not side by side with cheap wines). So we have to forget the term "cordial" as suggested because cordials are typically NOT cheap drinks. Marek Daroszewski points out that some nalewkas are expensive -- that's fine, but not the ones mentioned in the context! They are to be cheap and therefore they CANNOT be called cordials unless "cheap cordials". Nalewka is a hard liquor (not liqueur) and is usually fruit (or herbs or spiced) - based. Let us NOT enter translations that suggest anything expensive and sophisticated UNLESS we qualify it as "cheap" very clearly.
