Norwegian term

skjebnefellesskap

Norwegian to English Art/Literary Religion Religious history
I could use a little help to find a good word/words for this word in an academic document outlining religious political history in the sixteenth century:

"Stikk i strid med Melanchthons ønske om en riksreformasjon, var lutheranerne og zwinglianerne på veg inn i et skjebnefellesskap."

shared destiny

I agree with Per, there are many ways to say the same thing. This would probably be my choice.

It is very similar to Per's suggestion, and simply fits the genre better: as Per states, there could be any ways to combine the two concepts. Thanks again."
