: no, meaning no, I do not agree;I would not know what you meant if you said JC's Mommy. Also , not sure that it is even used in everyday language, as compared to 'Bozia'- everybody knows what you are talking about.

Oh for God's sake!/As God is my witness
Sometimes (in the USA) "for Pete's sake".
Also "as God is my witness", depending on what context you're using it in.

Note added at 7 hrs (2009-08-14 08:29:02 GMT)
--------------------------------------------------
If it is referring to the Virgin Mary, mother of God the Son... then I would use maybe "Jesus, Mary and Joseph!" or "Mary, Mother of God!". Though if as in this description: http://www.sjp.pl/co/bozia - it means a religious medal, then you could say something like on this link: http://encyclopedia.jrank.org/articles/pages/788/Religious-O...
Though I still think "As God is my witness" rules. ;)

Discussion
Could have been used by the Chief Justice, should this exchange be brought to the supreme court of law:-)
Medalik maryjny upowszechnił spowiednik, ks. Aladel; sama zakonnica zajęła się pracą w hospicjum w Paryżu, gdzie spędziła resztę życia. - http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catherine_Labouré
The Miraculous Medal, also known as the Medal of the Immaculate Conception, is a medal created by Saint Catherine Labouré following a vision of the Blessed Virgin Mary.[1]
Many Catholic Christians around the world (and some non-Catholics) wear the Miraculous Medal, which they believe will bring them special graces through the intercession of Mary if worn with faith and devotion. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miraculous_Medal
Lordy intj Also sp Lordie
See also: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/lordy
(Certainly no Polish person, Catholic or not, would think to use this type of terminology!)
On the link: They're using it (I believe) in inverted commas to show that we can refer to God the Father as our own father or dad/daddy. Not as a formal name - eg: God the Father/Our Father in Heaven/Abba/Deus/Yaweh/Adonai... etc.
Also, sorry, but I don't find new-age, born again USA-style Christianity a reliable source of linguistics for translation. Even if you believe Jesus was a 'dude' and Mary Magdalene was his 'main squeeze'...
To teraz też czuję się wstrząśnięta. ;-)
* bozia (medalik) -zi, -zię; -zi
http://so.pwn.pl/lista.php?co=bozie
Pozdrawiam
S
Maybe 'the big guy upstairs' or maybe you mean 'for God's sake!' or 'for the love of God!' or something similar.
Sometimes we also use "Mary mother of God!" (God being Jesus) in a similar way or "Holy Mother of God!"...
I think there needs to be better context here.
