Spanish term

BOLSA DE INFORMACION CONFIDENCIAL

Spanish to English Medical Medical: Pharmaceuticals Clinical Trial
This is an official document from Mexico. COFEPRIS form. The entire phrase:

NÚM. DE BOLSA DE INF. CONFIDENCIAL
NÚM. FOLIO DE BOLSA DE INF. CONFIDENCIAL

I have been using a translation that I am not 100% happy with... If anybody has a suggestion (please, based on experience, no guessing), I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Discussion

spanruss Feb 26, 2017:
It's possible that this is information stored electronically. However, the phrase is usually followed by "Núm. folio de bolsa de inf.confidencial". Makes me think this is a paper "packet", "registry", "file", or something else. I don't have the answer.
neilmac Jun 20, 2013:
@Charles COFEPRIS is mainly concerned with business and trade apps, and the term most used in Mexican EDI in this rapidly-expanding area (in my experience) is "data pool" or "data catalogue"...
Charles Davis Jun 20, 2013:
The trouble is that it's hard to make progress here because there seems to be no explanation on the Cofepris website or elsewhere of what they mean by the "bolsa de información confidencial".
Charles Davis Jun 20, 2013:
I'm not at all convinced that the answer to that previous question is correct. No reference was given to establish what "bolsa de información" means; the references were all to do with the English term "information database".

I think "dossier" is a more likely meaning, but I have nothing to prove this.

I have found a document available in both English and Spanish, in which "bolsa de información del paciente" and "patient information pouch" are used, but I'm far from convinced this is relevant to your case:

The translation pointed out by Liz is the one I've been using recently for the same phrase (I guess I must have found it here as well). What translation are you not happy with? Maybe a bit of brainstorming could help us both out......

Have you looked at this glossary entry and the references given?

Confidential information system/database

'Bolsa' is often used (in Spain at least) in this context, just to mean a centralized system containing information i.e. a database in my mind.
In the same was as a 'bolsa de trabajo' is a centralized system providing information on jobs/employment, I would say that a 'bolsa de información confidencial' is a centralized system which collects all confidential information.
I would use "confidential information database" in this context or, if you're not sure that it's electronic (it could be paper filing), I'd simply use "confidential information system", which is suitably generic as it could be a filing system or an IT system.
Note from asker:
Thank you, Marie-Helene. This translation seems perfect to me. I will use it.

CONFIDENTIAL DATA POOL

A data pool is a centralised database, where all necessary information to perform business transactions between trading partners is stored in a standardised way.
A data pool is the common point in the communication between the trading partners, provide synchronization capability of their data. This information is accessible to all trading partners in a common, simple, fast and accurate manner.

For example, product description, dimensions, packaging levels, product category, company address, minimum order volume, etc."

Since the COFEPRIS site concerns "approval to sell medical devices in Mexico", I think the Global Trade Item Number and GLN, etc, will be key elements in these transactions, hence my preference over "database", which I perceive as more general.
