“Recovery is Possible”
In memory of
Jose Calixto Mendoza Jimenez (1948-2014)
A Servant of Christ Jesus
His Persona:
Jose was a happy husband, loving father and grandfather, caring professor and a respected businessman. He wasn’t vain at all and he was the most down-to-earth person ever. He was committed to making everyone happy. If it was important to you, it BECAME important to him. He was happily married for 20 years, and during his last days, his only concern was for his wife’s and children’s well being, and not his own impending mortality.
The Battle:
Throughout his 40-year journey as an alcoholic some people distanced themselves from him because they found it to difficult to be around him. His family really wanted to get behind him and support him, but the more he failed to stop drinking the more it became difficult to do. He just wanted to belong and to be loved but the stigma associated with addictions made it harder and harder. He used to say, "Nobody should ever feel ashamed of seeking help".
A New Life:
Until one day he repented, got on his knees (after he found out that he had a liver condition) and he prayed to God for forgiveness. He then would go to live the happiest and most productive 10 years of his life serving his Higher Power.
The Victory:
After 50 years of struggling with the effects of Alcohol's addiction he has passed away. But his dead was not in vain. He is a clear example that recovery is possible. His loved ones now have learned that Healing begins when authentic connection takes place and now they are sobriety advocates.
The Lesson learned:
The lives of those that loved him have been changed forever and for the better. They know deep in their heart that life is short and that it needs to be lived with purpose and to the fullest by improving themselves and striving to be better everyday.
In the heart of those who loved you, always you will remain…

The Live Sober Foundation Presents:
“La Recuperacion es Posible”
En memoria de:
Jose Calixto Mendoza Jimenez (1948-2014)
