Spanish-speakers will also starve at the Happy Burger. In just a glance I noticed phrases whose English equivalents are: The country fried the potatos, cream that has been whipped... with a whip, and the \"Little Goats\' Yard.\" I had to check out the English to sort that out... it was the Kids Playground.

They probably couldn\'t find char-grilled in the dictionary. So they took charwoman (old-fashioned for cleaning woman) and came up with Putzfrau.

Wenn mich nicht alles täuscht, stand \"hip cat\" früher im amerikansichen Slang für schöne Frau oder so ähnlich, wie heute \"chicks\". (wer sagt, man kann aus Filmen nichts lernen!) Vielleicht auch dolls? Hm.



Also: habe gerade von einem old-movies fan erfahren, dass es wohl in den 30er Jahren in Amerika üblich war, schöne Frauen als \"dolls\" zu bezeichnen.

Das ist wieder mal typisch Übersetzer: jeder andere liest den Text und lacht, wir fangen sofort an, das Ding zurückzuübersetzen und zu recherchieren.
