More and more individuals whose mother tongue is not English can find themselves unexpectedly navigating the family law system due to child custody, support, and access issues, among other family law matters. Many of these individuals require both translation and interpretation services, whether in a lawyer’s office, during an immigration hearing, or in the courtroom. In this full-day workshop, an overview of the family law system will be provided, and an in-depth analysis of family law procedure and specific court documents and their significance will be conducted.

(The workshop will be presented entirely in English, and will be useful to both translators and
interpreters whose language pairs include English.)

Speaker: Suzanne Deliscar

Suzanne Deliscar is a Canadian lawyer-linguist who translates in the French-English and Spanish-English language pairs. She focuses on legal and official document translation, as well as contract abstraction and e-discovery in Spanish and French. She is also the developer and presenter of over 20 webinar programs for translators and interpreters, focusing on legal translation, official document translation, and marketing. Ms. Deliscar specializes in providing legal and language services in English, Spanish and French.
