Dear colleagues,

I have a couple of basic questions about TMs in MemoQ:

1) What information would you recommend me to write into the following fields:
- Client
- Subject
- Project
- Domain
- Description

2) Am I right in assuming that I can add that information (client, subject, project, domain, description) at any time, even after I already sent entries to the TM?

3) Is it possible to rename a TM and, if so, how do

Dear colleagues,

Many thanks in advance!

Kind regards,

Olaf

You can freely decide what information you enter there. To me, the field that is less useful is "Project", since we always describe the project in the name of the project, and I see very little use for that field in the TM description. We use the following in our office:
- Client: for the name of the agency or direct customer.
- Subject: for the name of the end customer, if the translation is for an agency; empty if for a direct customer.
- Domain: for the areas of expertise the project is about. This helps finding translations memories that could be useful in a new project, as secondary memories.

Yes, of course. We in the office complete this information (especially Domain) when we have free time.

I don't think you can. As far as I know, you have to export the memory, create a new one, and import.

I hope this helps!

Thanks, Tomás! Jun 19, 2013

Thanks a lot, Tomás! That's a good solution for renaming the TM! And I will also adopt your approach for the client/subject info

Kind regards,

Olaf
