Hello,

I have Trados 6.5 with TagEditor but I've only used it for small html projects. An old client has asked me if I can translate QuarkXPress files. I read about TRADOS Story Collectors and I want to know if I have to have QuarkXPress installed in my computer to tag the files.

Thanks.

Claudia

StoryCollector is to be used within QXP Feb 4, 2006

Hi Claudia

StoryCollector is a QuarkXPress exension, so it needs to be used within QXP.

You will find it documented in the "Trados File Formats Reference Guide", a pdf file which you should find in your Trados installation.

Hope this helps,
Roberta

You could also provide your customer with the StoryCollector Feb 4, 2006

and let them extract the text.
But as Roberta already stated, the file must be opened in QXP for exporting.

Regards
Jerzy

Thanks Feb 4, 2006

Thank you both. I read on the Trados manual (one of them) that it could open QuarkXPress directly. So I thought I didn't have the need to have the software myself. It's kind of misleading, don't you think?

Which manual do you mean? AFAIK there is no such information.
The best way to obtain informatin about processing of different file types is the Trados File Formats Reference Guide, which may be found here.
If you take a look at it, you will find a detailed descriptin of the work process for QXP and other file types. And there is certainly no informatin, that you could open QXP files directly.

Jerzy
