It's too early for a final conclusion—and perhaps there won't be one at all. After all, different translators have different needs and preferences when choosing a CAT tool. What works seamlessly for one may feel limiting to another. But one thing's certain: the journey of comparing these tools has revealed some surprising insights. Stay tuned, because wherever we end up, it's bound to be an interesting destination.

One of the biggest advantages of OmegaT is that it is an open-source project, which is a commendable and generous initiative. OmegaT also benefits from a highly engaged and active user community, and I truly wish them continued success with their excellent software.

That said, from a personal perspective, I do miss certain functionalities that my preferred CAT tool, CafeTran Espresso, offers. In particular, the features for adding and maintaining terminology, which I believe are essential for ensuring high-quality and consistent translations, especially in technical fields.

Documentation:
OmegaT offers a comprehensive user manual where all the information is centralized, making it easy to find what you need in one place. CafeTran Espresso’s documentation is equally thorough but spread across multiple resources, which may require a bit more effort to navigate.

Feature Set:
When it comes to features, CafeTran Espresso aligns more closely with industry-leading tools like memoQ and Trados, especially if you exclude project management functionalities designed for agencies or corporate environments. This makes it a strong choice for freelance translators focused on translation-specific tasks.

Ergonomics:
CafeTran Espresso excels in ergonomics, with optimized keyboard and mouse interactions that enhance workflow efficiency. Additionally, nearly every font in the user interface is customizable, allowing translators to tailor the appearance to their preferences. This level of flexibility makes CafeTran particularly suitable for those with visual impairments.

CafeTran Espresso is crafted with great attention to detail. You can really see that a professional is working full-time on it, thoughtfully responding to user requests and continuously improving its functionality and efficiency.

Overall, I have great respect for OmegaT's development and the work of its community, and I look forward to seeing how the software evolves.
