Leksikon? Nov 23, 2012

I'm not sure I understand the reasoning for using 'leksikon' as a translation for 'encyclopedia' in sentence no. 7...

Couldn't think of anything else Nov 26, 2012

Hi Tina
I wasn't particularly happy with that sentence either. The direct translation of 'encyclopedia' doesn't have the funny pun of the American quote, where it sounds like 'encyclopedia' could be some kind of bike. However, it was the best I could come up with, and I just hoped that the sentence as a whole would convey that Yogi Berra had no clue what an encyclopedia is, along with the hint that his schooling was maybe not all that it could have been.

A gem of a translation Nov 26, 2012

Loved this gem.
Jeg ville give min højre arm for at kunne bruge begge hænder samtidigt.
I use this translation myself when I am in a bar. Always get a weird stare, then a few laughs.

Love it! Aug 14, 2015

I usually stay away from this contest, and stumbled on it years later when looking for something else...

Definitely to be printed out, with names, for my collection of Danish 'proverbs'...

Thanks, Gitte!
